My Stunning Flowerbed Images For the 2010 Gardening Season...Enjoy The New and Not So New Plantings
The flowerbed images below were taken after July 26, 2010. My garden comes into its own at the end of July. Albeit, many of my Lilies have bloomed by this time but the Daisies and the Dogwood Shrub are exploding in growth and colour. As I update this page, I will add all of the flowers that I have planted in each flowerbed. Above is my south flowerbed, which contains Dusty Miller, Marigolds, Salvia Victoria Blue,
Salvia Black and Blue, the beautiful variegated shrub Dogwood Silver Cloud, the annual Ageratum Blue Horizon,
the shrub Golden Elder, the perennial Yellow Loosestrife and the perennial Goldenrod.
This is my island garden filled with Ribbon Grass and edged with Dusty Miller and Vodka Begonias. I also planted the daylily Stella D'Oro, a very popular re-bloomer as well as Little Business Daylily,
Summer Wine Daylily, the perennial Salvia Blue Night and Goatsbeard.
I created the above flowerbed last year. I planted various Spreading Evergreens and Barberry Shrubs.
Can you see how well the Virgina Creeper has covered the peninsula. I took this image at 6:30 in the morning. The sun is just appearing in the sky to the right. We still have to build our Japanese foot bridge. Soon.
Instead of re-planting the wine barrels, I opted for cedar planters. I moved the barrels to the front yard. I planted Dragon Wing Begonia, Wandering Jew and various types of Coleus.
The strawberry jar is once again planted with Red Impatiens. The rest of the shade garden is filled with Ligularia Othello, Ligularia-Rocket,
Ladys Mantle, Artemisia Silver Brocade, Hostas, Heuchera Caramel and the Oxalis Lucky Clover.
On the edge of the peninsula garden is my Purple Pavement Rose and the Foxi Pavement Rose have finished their first flush of blooming. These shrub roses will now rest for a couple of weeks and then present me with plenty of new blooms. Both shrub roses are very fragrant.
In my center garden I planted a variety of Salvias such as the Salvia Black and Blue, Salvia Victoria Blue,
Campanula White and Blue Clips, Becky Shasta Daisy, Scabiosa, Garden Pinks Arctic Fire and the
Salvia Mystic Spires.
I really enjoy sitting on our new bench and looking out towards the smaller pond and the growing Spreading Evergreens such as the Mugo Pine, False Cypress,
Cutleaf Lace Shrub and the Salvia Eveline.
Bordering my shade garden is the larger Dogwood, Barberry Shrub, Sedum Dragons Blood and the Sedum Angelina. In the left hand corner of the image is the Goldfinger Potentilla.
This image really shows the Virgina Creeper. Some of the green leaves are already turning a burnt red/orange colour. More images and plant links to come in the coming weeks.
