Ageratum Blue Horizon Series...a medium sized, shrub-like Floss Flower Annual

Ageratum Blue Horizon

About The Ageratum Blue Horizon

Ageratum Blue Horizon Series is a taller size shrub-like annual bedding plant offering a true blue color for any flowerbed gardens. The image above is from my garden August 27, 2009. This Floss Flower is a true blue annual plant and grows well in my south perennial garden as a medium to taller sized annual plant. This long blooming annual has blue soft feathery flower buds that keep their color for a very long time. Just snip off the spent buds (they turn a brown color) with your garden scissors and the Blue Horizon will reward you with additional flowers buds and new over-all growth of upstanding blooms all summer long.

For a great flower garden idea see the image below and check out the Salvia Victoria Blue planted alongside for a stunning blue color compliment or the silver grey Dusty Miller as another companion planting.

Another companion plant that is rarely thought of is the Coral Bells, Midnight Rose for a magnificent color contrast.

Pests rarely bother this Ageratum variety.

How To Grow The Ageratum Blue Horizon

Early in the garden season I planted this wonderful Blue Horizon series only to have Mother Nature freeze all of the flower bud tips off.

Thank goodness that my patience of really liking this variety and waiting for the re-growth paid off. Please see the image and comments below.

An update: August 5, 2009. Even though the bud tips were frozen and turned brown, I snipped them off with my garden scissors and indeed this annual bedding plant has grown and I am quite pleased with the outcome.

I also planted the Blue Hawaii variety click here to see plant image and plant description.
