A new annual, the Angelonia Angel Mist Purple...mini orchids on a stem.
'Angelonia Purple Angel Mist' Image from my gardenAbout The Angelonia AnnualAngelonia, Angel Mist Purple, is a striking annual bedding plant that looks similar to purple miniture orchids a stem. This is the first year that I have planted this annual in my flowerbed gardens, but not the last! The image above is taken from my garden dated July 19, 2009 and this garden annual grows more shrub-like everyday. Each rigid stem holds a mass of tiny orchid-like purple flowers that last a very long time (no fragrance though). I must say that I am quite impressed with the vivid color. How To Grow The AngeloniaThis garden annual does very well in sunny hot flower gardens, so if your flower bed gets plenty of sun and dries from time to time, then this is the annual plant for you. Sometimes called the summer snapdragon, I have watched as bees insert themselves and the hummingbirds hover to get every last drop of sweet nectar.Below are three great companion annuals for your garden design: Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
