About The Argyranthemum Spring Bouquet

This planting season I purchased the Argyranthemum Spring Bouquet in place the Nelia Argyranthemum variety. The Nelia is still my favorite little mum/daisy, but after traveling far and wide, I finally gave up and purchased the Spring Bouquet.

I really enjoy the Argyranthemum for it's sturdy upright stems, shrub-like growth and blooming power, however the Spring Bouquet is more of a cooler temperature bloomer. They seem to bloom so much better in early summer or early fall when the temperature is not sizzling.

Naturally, I planted the Spring Bouquet in the wrong location (by the waterfall in full sun) and it does seem to be struggling a bit. If planted in full sun, make sure to keep it watered regularly.

An interesting feature of the Argyranthemum Spring Bouquet is that the flowers start off as a soft pink, then slowly fade to shades of softer yellow. This makes for a multi colour look. Actually, when I look at my plants, I see the tops of the blooms a soft pink and the under side a soft yellow.

In some cases, the flowers can actually fade to a creamy white.

The foliage, if kept well watered, is a deep green and finely cut. If the plants are allowed to dry out, the tips of the foliage will begin to yellow. When this happens I tend to take my scissors and carefully cut off the yellowing or browning tips.

How To Grow The Argyranthemum Spring Bouquet

As mentioned above this annual prefers cooler temperatures so a part sun location is the best, however all of the information cards indicate that it can be planted in full sun. Just remember to water the plant regularly, but don't allow the plant to become water logged.

Once planted, fertilize every third watering. In order to keep this annual blooming, deadhead the spent blooms. I use my garden scissors, which is a great tool for deadheading. If needed, you can also cut back the entire plant and watch it re-grow.

Great companions plants: African Daisy, Coreopsis Zagreb, Angelonia or Nelia Argyranthemum.
