About The Artemisia Silver Brocade

The Artemisia Silver Brocade perennial makes a great transitional colour plant for the flowerbed garden. When transitioning to different colours within your garden beds, it is best to use either a white coloured flower or silver, like the Silver Brocade. Using this method allows the eye to enjoy each colour change.

Another great use for this silver perennial is if you are looking for plants with a texture. To me, the Silver Brocade looks like a piece of cut lace. And because it has a quick spreading habit, it makes a great grounscover. Try planting it underneath your Roses for an interesting effect.

This Artemisia reminds me of the annual Dusty Miller, which I love growing as an edger plant. All colours seems to meld well with the Silver Brocade.

How To Grow The Artemisia Silver Brocade

While I have this perennial planted in my shade garden, it also grows well in full sun and part shade conditions. It is hardy to zone 2, which makes it a perfect perennial for my zone 3 garden.

The Silver Brocade is drought tolerate provided it has been well established. Also, many gardeners choose this perennial for their alpine and rock gardens because of its great spreading habit.

One more great reason to plant the Silver Brocade: Because of the fragrant leaves and just like the Dusty Miller, the Silver Brocade is deer and rabbit resistant.

Because of its cooling habit on hot colours, the Silver Brocade companions well with reds like the Potunia , or purple like the Salvia Evolution or the yellow Marigold.

If planting the Silver Brocade in your shade garden try planting it alongside the Hardy Plumbago or the Brunnera or the Ladys Mantle or the taller Ligularia Othello.

Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
