About The Asiatic Lily Crimson Pixie

Try planting the Asiatic Lily Crimson Pixie for a great crimson orange color on large trumpet bloom. The image above is from my garden taken at the beginning of July.

Even though this lily is a early summer bloomer, I enjoyed the contrast between the deep green grass-like leaves and deep orange flowers against the Dwarf Korean Lilac Shrub , which has small, oval, shiny leaves on a stem.

How To Grow The Asiatic Lily Crimson Pixie

This dwarf variety of lily is easy to grow and very hardy to a Zone 2. Blooms on a compact plant with very sturdy stems. This is the first year for this dwarf variety in my flower garden design and I am pleasantly surprised at the number of blooms.

The Crimson Pixie is great for cut flowers and would do well in containers.

As with other lilies, don't fertilize too much or you will get more foliage than blooms. A bit of MYKE's growth supplement makes a difference. This lily prefers full sun and average soil conditions, but soil that is well-rained.

The Crimson Pixie grows to about 18" to 24" tall and the 3" to 4" blooms are a stunning red burnt orange.

Other companion plants: the Coreopsis Zagreb or the Marigolds as a border or edging plant. Just remember that the companion plants chosen will be the main focus plants once the Pixie has finished blooming.

Even any of the shorter variety of the Salvia would compliment.
