The Bellflower Cherry Bells has cherry pink tubular bell-shaped blooms...
About The Bellflower Cherry BellsThe Bellflower Cherry Bells Perennial from the Campanula family has cherry pink tubular bell-shaped blooms. If this sun perennial is anything like the purple Bellflower that I planted in my peninsula flower garden (see image below), I will want to plant more. The purple Bellflower grew to two feet tall and was loaded with beautiful purple/blue flowers. By the way, the Bellflower plant is also known by the name Canterbury Bells. I also planted the blue/purple shorter variety Bellflower. The tubular bell-shaped cherry pink flowers grow to about one to two feet tall. They bloom all summer. Remember to deadhead and snip off the old stems to keep the blooms coming. How to Grow The BellflowerThe Bellflower Cherry Bells can tolerate a clay soil although it does do better if the soil is amended and is well-drained. Visit my Garden Soil Page and learn how to amend your soil. Bees hover over and in this plant. I counted at least fifteen buzzing about my head as I snipped off the spent blooms. Some great companion plants are: Becky Shasta Daisy, Globe Thistle, Pavement Roses or varieties of daylilies . Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
The image above of the Purple Bellflower was taken July 19, 2009 and this perennial grows in my peninsula flower garden. You can see the regular garden daisy as well as the jagged leaf of the Globe Thistle to the left and part of the Virgina Creeper Vine to the right.
