Coral Bells Harvest Burgundy grown for its attractive foliage in many flowerbed gardens...
Coral Bells Harvest Burgundy from my garden. Image taken July 19, 2009. Great tall blooms. Great contrast with the silver Dusty Miller and the blue gazing ball. About the Coral Bells Harvest BurgundyTry planting the Coral Bells Harvest Burgundy, a hardy evergreen perennial with attractive deep burgundy foliage. I have mine planted in my south garden that receives part sun. The Coral Bells are also a good choice for rock and woodland gardens. While the Coral Bells are difficult to grow in our Zone 3 climate, many of mine survive our bitter cold winters. Naturally, I must give them extra attention with mulching. How To Grow the Coral Bells Harvest BurgundyAlthough some gardeners do plant the Coral Bells in full sun, and are successful, watering regularly is utmost. With wonderful dark slightly marbled foliage, this mounding perennial blooms in July through August. Because the Coral Bells blooms for such a long time, it hard to know if clipping the dried flowers actually encourages extra blooming. No sooner are the current flowering stem dry, I see more budding stems arising from the crown. Like all other varieties, the Harvest Burgundy is an evergreen perennial with a mounding growth habit. Once the snow melts, this perennial grows very quickly. During the summer months, check underneath the growth and remove any dried or browning leaves. This helps keep the plant looking tidy. Companion plants for shade: Hostas, Ligularia Othello, Astilbes , Sedum Dragon Blood, or Brunnera. Companion plants for part shade: Campanula White or Purple Clips, Bellflower or Ajuga.
