If you're in the Zone...that is 'Zone 5'...try the Coral Flower Carpet Rose for a great hardy groundcover...
The Coral Flower Carpet Rose.
I find this carpet rose simply stunning. This Carpet Rose offers a profusion of single petal blooms...20 to 30 flowers per cluster.
The petals darken after opening and will not fade. It grows to 24"-32"(60cm) tall and spreads 4-6 ft. (1.2-1.8m)
Likes to be planted in full sun, but will tolerate some light shade. And like the others, you might get less blooms if not planted in full sun.
Water regularly until well established. Only feed in the spring.
Careful not to let it sit in water, so watch the drainage.
Add organic matter.
If you should get aphids, use the insecticidal soap or like me, I use my hands and a garden hose. It is disease resistant to a point.
Does not require pruning, although I do prune my Flower Carpet Roses in order to keep a rather compact shape.
As you can see in the above image, this carpet rose like the others grow well in containers.
Great companion plants: Dusty Miller, Dwarf Korean Lilac, Barberry Shrub or Spreading Evergreens.
