Dusty Miller makes a great contrast annual plant in any garden design
About The Dusty MillerDusty Miller annual bedding plant with silver and grey makes a great contrast annual plant for the flower garden design. The bedding plant image above is from my flower garden taken September 1, 2009. Since being planted in late May, this annual plant has taken quite the abuse. With a late frost (June), all of the tips froze. Then came the spring and summer rains. This silver grey annual survived it all and has grown to a medium to large sized border plant. How To Grow The Dusty MillerAlthough I inter-mixed the silver with the Ageratum Blue Hawaii, the Ageratum is hard to see. This silver or grey annual has over-grown the poor Ageratum. However, the combination is striking...the silver grey and blueish-purple. I included dozens of this annual in my flower garden design. This garden annual wraps around 3/4 of my middle island flower garden and the front border of my south flower garden. See the image below. Besides the Ageratum as a great contrast or companion plants, others could be: Salvia Victoria Blue , Flower Carpet Roses, Morden Roses or the Salvia Black and Blue.
