My Foxi Rose...from the Pavement Series of hardy roses
About The Foxi RoseI purchased the Foxi Rose at an end of season sale and the blooms were incredible for so late in the season. As well, the rose hips were huge and very attractive. Since then, the bushes grow beautifully. I covered the roses last fall with a styrofoam cap and had no winter damage. The Foxi produces deep purple-pink, single flowers. The flowers have a strong perfume fragrance that demands your attention when walking by. I had no idea that the fragrance would be so strong! The leaves are similar to a wild rose and are a lighter green shade. In the fall when flowering is discouraged, big, deep red rosehips develop instead of blooms, which I allow to form for their attractive appearance. Pavement roses are tough as well as beautiful. They are tolerant of extremes in temperature and will do well in full sun or partial shade. They are also highly salt tolerant ergo the name Pavement. Many people plant Pavement Roses along driveways and side walks where salt is spread in the winter to melt the snow and ice. Great companion plants are: Purple Pavement Rose, Double Pink Coneflower, Purple Coneflower and the Shasta Daisy Becky. For an front edger annual plant, why not try planting the Dusty Miller or the Felicia Daisy. Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
