Fringed Bleeding Heart...lacy and a repeat bloomer...

Cut Leaf Bleeding Heart

Fringed Bleeding Heart

I was never a lover of the common Bleeding Heart even though my mother loved them and had many growing in her front yard. Then, along comes the Fringed Bleeding Heart and I'm in love with this repeat bloomer.

The lacy, fern-like leaves caught my attention and these leaves do not turn yellow and die back in the summer. As well, they really do bloom from May until frost.

I have two of these perennials planted in my garden in part shade. Just remember not to let them dry out as they enjoy a moist soil, but don't over water.

  • blooms pink and red. Mine is pink
  • Herbaceous
  • deeply cut, blue-green foliage
  • reblooms through summer and fall
  • grows to 12-18 in. (30-45 cm)
