The Goldenrod or dwarf Solidago makes a great addtion to any garden...

About The Goldenrod
The Goldenrod or Solidago has great yellow blooms and a rabbit and deer resistant perennial. This sun perennial found a home with me during my first makeover. I was looking for a perennial that would bloom towards the end of summer. Even the foliage as it was growing taller offered interest in the garden.
Did you know that the name Solidago means "to make whole". During past history the Solidago has been used as a topical wound healer. Still today it is thought to help with colds, flus, arthritis and other ailments.
For me, I love the fullness of the plant and the bright yellow color. Bees just seem to gravitate to this fall perennial and in my garden, I can usually count up to 20 buzzing about!
How To Grow The Goldenrod
Some say that Goldenrod (there are up to 130 different species) can become invasive in the garden. I grow the Golden Baby, which tends to behave itself.
Another interesting note is an old tale that infers this perennial makes people sneeze, ergo it is also called Sneezeweed. This is simply not true. However, this perennial is not liked by
deer or rabbits, which makes it perfect for my garden design.
Great companion plants are: Salvia Victoria Blue, Salvia Blue Night and the
Dogwood Shrub.
Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
