Hostas, staple hardy perennials for the shade garden
Hostas: Fragrant Bouquet
The Fragrant Bouquet is one of the Hostas that receives my full attention. It produces showy flowers and is fragrant! The wavy, heart-shaped, leaves are colored apple-green variegated with creamy margins. The Fragrant Bouquet is a mainstay in my shade garden. The only pest is of course those nasty slugs. However, I have no issue with going out after dark and slug picking with my trusty rusty flashlight.
Hostas: Francee
A medium size Hosta, the Francee has oval heart shaped leaves with white margins. I received the Francee as a division from a friend and have come to appreciate its vigorous growth habit and its contrasting darker forest green color against my other surrounding plants.
Hostas: Red October Hosta
As mentioned on my full information page regarding the beautiful Red October Hosta, this hosta has striking red stems, bluish green leaves with a slight ripple edge. It blooms a soft lavender colour, which seems to stay for quite some time. It is late to arrive in the spring, so gardeners must be patient. Great companion plants: Brunnera, Astilbes, Ajuga,Sedum Angelina or the Ligularia Othello.
