The Hydrangea Quick Fire, a hardy no fuss garden shrub for any zone and garden design.

Hydrangea Shrub Quick Fire

The above image was taken July 19, from my garden. The Hydrangea Quick fire is planted alongside my pond.

About The Quick Fire Hydrangea

A member of the Pee Gee family, this shrub is amazing. The blooms on this hardy shrub begin as a creamy white color, then turn to a light pink and finish off a deeper rose color. Mine is planted at the pond's edge (in full sun) and the blooms have turned a few heads.

Pruning is simple. The Quick fire blooms on new wood (meaning new spring growth). Prune in fall when blooming is completed and the leaves have fallen. DO NOT prune in the spring. You might cut off the new forming buds.

How To Grow The Quick Fire Hydrangea

Loving a well drained soil, the large pyramidal-shaped flower heads bloom a month earlier than other varieties. Even dried, the hydrangea looks good, a brownish pink coloring. This shrub is truly a no fuss. It grows 6 to 8 feet tall and spreads from 3 to 4 feet wide. While mine is planted in full sun, this hardy shrub tolerates part shade as well. When planting in full sun, make sure to give extra water, but not too much. Hydrangea's don't like soggy feet.

When planting add a teaspoon of Myke's as a growth supplement. I add Myke's to all of my plants, garden shrubs and trees.

A perfect companion plants and shrubs: Bellflower Cherry Bells, Bee Balm or the Swamp Milkweed, which also attracts butterflies.

Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design. If your hydrangeas are not blooming, check out this page for great information.
