Safe Insect Spray
Besides the use of Insecticidal Soap, or the method of using liquid dish soap and water or literally picking the bugs off by hand, here is another safe solution to rid those pests from your precious garden plants.
Take 1 garlic bulb
1 small onion
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 quart water
- Add together all ingredients and sir up in a blender. If you don't have a blender use a food processor for the first 3 ingredients, then add the water and mix by hand.
- Pour into a container that has a tight forming lid. Let this steep for at least 1 hour.
- Then stir in 1 tablespoon dish soap. I use Sunlight. Mix.
- Pour the amount needed into a spray bottle. (you can purchase these spray bottles at Garden Centres, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Dollar Store ect.
- When using any sprays for your flowers ect., use common sense and wear the appropriate protection for your eyes and hands.
- Be careful not to get this solution in the eyes. It will sting.
- Wear rubber gloves so as not to get the solution on your hands/fingers. It will sting especially if you have an open cut or wound. I wear/use my surgical gloves. They are disposible, cheap and thin enough that I can handle all delicate flowers with ease.
- Store tightly covered in the refrigerator. Good for about 1 week. Remember to label it! Don't let anyone assume it's a salad dressing.
