Mini Lambs Ear Silky Fleece, a Smaller Version of Soft Silver Leaves
About The Mini Lambs EarThe Mini Lambs Ear Silky Fleece suits any rock garden, container planting or for that matter, any garden at all! The smaller silver grey leaves form a compact clump that grows at a medium rate. When in bloom, the blue spikes entice butterflies and bees to land and venture within. I have seen this mini planted in between Spreading Evergreens as well as the groundcover base for Roses. When planting, find a sun to part sun location and add some organic matter. Keep well watered until established. Thereafter, this perennial can withstand dry periods. As with the larger variety of Lambs Ear, during wet conditions check underneath the soft leaves and clean up any that are soggy or browned. Mold can grow very quickly. Because of the soft textured leaves, deer and rabbits do not like this perennial plant, however I am told that slugs do. In my gardens, I have not had an issue with slugs munching on my Lambs Ear. Should you have an issue with slugs, try placing some thin copper wire around the plant. The copper zaps the slugs and turns them to mush. Great companion plants: Double Pink Coneflower, Meringue Coneflower or the Speedwell Veronica. Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design. Mini Lambs Ear Features
