Another hardy rose, the Morden Sunrise Rose
About The Morden Sunrise RoseWhen planting the Morden Sunrise Rose I assumed the blooms would be a pure yellow. What a surprise indeed! This hardy shrub rose is a showy mixture of yellow, orange and pink and all at the same time. Like all the other Morden roses, it is best not to prune in the first year of planting. Remember to follow the planting instructions on my Roses Page and to add the epsom salt to the soil. The dark green shiny foliage is also resistant to black spot, mildew and rust, although I did have mildew last summer when the rain kept up all summer long. The color of this rose is amazing with the hint of pink...looks like the sky at sunrise, hence the name. It is a repeat bloomer, blooming from June until frost. Some gardeners grow this shrub rose as a hedge because of its low growth habit, but I prefer planting in mass for stunning statement. This rose has its own root. The advantage of own root roses is that once established they are very resilient. Great companion plants: Dusty Miller, Dwarf Korean Lilac, Felicia Daisy or Coreopsis Moonbeam.
