About two years ago I started traveling the web in search of a 'magic' site that would swiftly and smoothly transition me into the master of my own domain...basically I wanted to create my own Web site on my passion for gardening.

Needless to say, I never found the site and ergo I never transitioned into my own webmaster. Actually that's not true. I did locate the SBI! (Site Build It) web site. Temptation existed, but in retrospect, I do not think I was ready for the commitment.

Funny how life gets in the way of a person's creative side. About thirty years ago I thought of writing a book about my maternal grandmother's escape from East Germany to Canada (1939-1951).

With two marriages, the first lasting 14 years, the current in its 21th year and raising three children, I spent little time on that notion...but oh how badly I wanted to write.

In the mean time, during my first marriage and many visits with my grandmother, I recorded her words and cataloged many pages of research. Unfortunately, in 1986 someone broke into the home and vanished with many household items including the case of my grandmother's recordings. It broke my heart.

After my grandmother passed away in 1997, I knew it was now or never and began writing in earnest. I completed my book in 2004 and in 2005 my book, The Faith She Had, debuted at our local booksellers, McNally Robinson.

While I wrote I also worked full time in our family company and enjoyed every spare moment in my gardens. In 2008 our family company merged with another agency and finally retirement stared me in the eye. What to do.
