The delicate pink oriental lily Mona Lisa is heavenly fragrant

Oriental Lily Mona Lisa

About The Oriental Lily Mona Lisa

The Oriental Lily Mona Lisa, also called the Pot Lily, has an appearance similar to the Stargazer. The color of the huge ruffled petals is a medium pink to very light pink edges, with a brown speckled throat.

The Mona Lisa grows anywhere from 18" to 22" tall and can spread 12" to 16". This lily grows fast and increases in numbers as the years go by. It prefers full sun but will tolerate a part sun location. While it is adaptable to almost any soil conditions, it does prefer soil that is well-drained.

The bloom time is from June to September. Remember to deadhead the blooms but leave 1/3 of the stem. It makes a great cut flower, is very fragrant and the hummingbirds love it!

The 2009 growing season was not kind to this lily. It is very cold/frost sensitive and Winnipeg had a late June frost. The tip froze and ergo turned brown and died off. The 2010 year, as in evidence by the image below, bloomed magnificiently. However, I will have to re-locate this lily to my new lily garden (in front of my new bamboo arbor) as it is overcrowded by the vigorous growth of the dwarf Korean Lilac.
