Plantskydd Deer Repellent Spray For Control of Deer in all Gardens...
When I needed to find a product that I would help control deer within my flower gardens, I chose to try the Plantskydd Deer Repellent. I wanted a product in either a concentrated liquid form or granular. The Plantskydd comes in both. The deer are not an issue during the summer as the foliage in the bush near my home is plentiful. The issue arises when its either late fall (just before the snow) or in the spring just as the snow melts. The deer target all of my newly plants shrubs and eat the tender new shoots right down to a stub. During the summer months I use my water Scarecrow to scare away the deer, however as the ground freezes or in early spring, the Scarecrow does not operate. An update: I moved my 4 half wine barrels from the back beach area to the front of the house...literally at the street. Just the perfect spot for wandering deer. And just the right level for them to munch without too much effort. And munch they did. I planted the wave petunia. A bright purple shade. My grandmother would have been proud. Within 2 weeks my petunias were discovered by the new fawn born in my neighbours backyard. In fact, all of the neighbours were complaining about the baby deer eating their front yard plants. Not to have the munching repeated, I took out the powder Plantskydd and mixed up a batch. Every week I water the petunias with the liquid. It worked. Keeping my fingers crossed, no babies or adults have been enjoying the over-flowing wine barrels as a smorg. How Does It Work?It works by emitting an odor that animals associate with predator activity, which repels the animal before it nibbles on the plants. Stimulating the fear response, Plantskydd has the deer and rabbits looking to dine somewhere other than your garden. Plantskydd's long-term effectiveness is attributable to the tenacity of its 100% natural, vegetable oil binder in sticking to plants, even under severe snow/rainfall conditions: up to 6 months over winter, 3-4 months in summer. Mix the product according to the directions on the package and spray onto the desired garden shrubs. The light brown color lingers on the plants, but does nothing to harm them. I have used this product with success spraying my newly planted mugo pines and my Cutleaf Lace shrub as I was concerned about the deer eating the new shrubs in November prior to the first snowfall. In the past I have suggested the Plantskyyd to cottage gardeners and have received an overwhelming success rate. Besides the powder format of the Plantskydd, it also comes in a pre-mixed liquid form.
