The Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose...an abundance of red blooms for any garden...

Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose

About the Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose

The Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose blooms forever with an ever abundance of brilliant red flowers. New for 2007. I just had to purchase and plant this groundcover rose. The number of blooms produced on these compact, shapely shrubs are incredible!

The leaves remain the glossy, leathery, dark green throughout the summer and they are rarely touched by black spot or mildew. I have had those pesky little green worms on my other roses, but a quick wipe of my fingers over the leaves and they are gone.

How To Grow The Scarlet Flower Carpet Roses

When mature, Flower Carpet Roses can produce in excess of 2,000 blooms. How's that for continuous color in a flowerbed garden design?

Besides being disease resistant rose, the Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose has about 6 to 8 small to medium buds/blooms on its stems which open to a beautiful scarlet red flower.

While they say it doesn't need deadheading, I still do as I like my shrubs looking neat and tidy.

Like other roses, this flower carpet rose needs at least 4 to 5 hours of direct sunlight for the greatest number of blooms to occur. It can withstand some part sun or filtered sun, but you will get less flowers.

Flower Carpet Roses grow to an average of 24" to 32" tall and get about 40" across, depending if they are shaped/pruned.

Too bad, but the Scarlet variety is not fragrant.

I would love to hear from you if you have any information about your Flower Carpet Rose planting. Please use the form below.

Try planting the Dusty Miller or the Scabiosa as a close-by annuals.

If you are looking for a companion shrub try planting the False Cypress or the Dwarf Korean Lilac. Both shrubs can be kept pruned so as not to over power the Carpet Rose.

Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
