The Sedum Dragons Blood adds great groundcover color.

About The Sedum Dragons Blood

Sedum Dragon's Blood

The Sedum Dragons Blood adds great groundcover color of deep green succulent leaves and deep red blooms. I am amazed on how well these succulents are growing in my garden. Some grow in full, hot sun, while others grow in complete shade. A very versitile plant indeed!

How To Grow The Sedum Dragons Blood

The Sedum in the first image grows in a filtered sun location. The color of the blooms in not as intense as if grown in full sun.

In the image above, the Dragons Blood grows in full sun in my middle garden. In both cases the succulent perennials were planted as small seedings last year (2009) and have grown to a tremendous size in just one growing season.

While soil type is not an issue, it does prefer a soil that is well drained. This Sedum does not enjoy wet feet. Shade Garden Image
In the image to the right the same variety is grown in complete shade. The blooms are not as plentiful, but the foliage is an incredible deep, deep shiny green.

Remember that this perennial is also used in rock gardens and as a control for soil erosion on slopes.

Sedum Dragons Blood

The above image is of the same shade garden location (2010). You can see that the Dragons Blood Sedum has spread quite a bit in one year.

Great companions plants: Ligularia Othello, Felicia Daisy, Creeping Jenny or as an under planting for Rose Shrubs.

Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
