The Stella D Oro... a popular daylily and a great re-bloomer...
About the Stella D Oro DaylilyThis is by far the longest blooming daylily. Mine starts blooming in June and don't stop until September. I plant them in every corner of my gardens as they always provide some sort of color when other perennials faded into the sunset. I have also planted the Stella on my peninsula garden among the Virgina Creeper, grasses, Astilbe and Golden Elder shrub. Because it is on the smaller size, this daylily is perfect to tuck into those bare spots. This repeat bloomer forms a dense clump of grassy green foliage with upright stems of fragrant, golden yellow ruffled flowers. Each flower lasts at least 6 hours a day. I pick off the spent flowers for looks and no other reason. You can plant them in mass or try planting them in containers. This daylily would also be great planted along a ponds edge. Great companion plants: Coreopsis Moonbeam, Little Business Daylily, or Loosestrife Firecracker. Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
