Consider the Verbena Aztec Dark Red as a groundcover or as a trailing plant for containers

About The Verbena Aztec Dark RedThe Verbena Aztec Dark Red with bright and vivid color has a trailing habit perfect for container planting or as a groundcover. This annual bedding plant is exactly just that...a brilliant dark red color, which blooms all summer long. The foliage stays green and lush all season and this plant thrives in hot sun. How To Grow the Verbena Aztec Dark RedI planted this annual beneath the Hydrangea Quick Fire and close to the Red Potunia, Gazania , Marigolds and the Cutleaf-Lace Shrub . Remember to deadhead the spent blooms. Snip off the entire seed pod stem. This encourages the plant to keep producing blooms. Watch out for slugs. Even when planted in a container, these slimy pests still slither up and munch. The Verbena Aztec Dark Red grows best in full sun and remember that if planted in containers, water and feed more often. If planted as a groundcover or edging plant, be careful when watering. I find that if the blooms get too wet, they tend to lay flat and look untidy. Other great companion plants: Salvia Victoria Blue and Nicotiana. Check out my Site Index Page for a listing of additional annuals and perennials to plant in your flower garden design.
