The Yellow Flower Carpet Rose Gives Abundant Blooms All Summer Long

Yellow Flower Carpet Rose

About the Yellow Flower Carpet Rose

The Yellow Flower Carpet Rose is another groundcover rose from the Flower Carpet Series. Can you imagine another groundcover rose that is disease resistant and self cleaning? I am very thankful to the breeder Dr. Werner Noack for introducing such a prolific bloomer.

In my research, I read that the Yellow is the least hardy of the series and this is true as mine did not survive a Manitoba winter, nor did the Scarlett for my zone 3. I have come to learn a thing or two about growing outside my zone. Whether it is a perennial or shrub rose such as the Yellow Flower Carpet Rose, I plant it, enjoy it and treat it as an annual.

How To Grow The Yellow Flower Carpet Rose

What an incrediable bloomer! With more than 100+ semi double blooms per season and with dark green glossy foliage, this groundcover in my garden is a decent spreader.

Another bonus is that this rose groundcover is also self-cleaning, disease resistant, and requires little or no pruning. My carpet roses tend to grow somewhat taller and wider than the norm, so I do prune mine back.

Should you get aphids or the like...simply spray with insecticidal soap or as I do, I wash the plants using my hands and a garden hose.

The Yellow Flower Carpet Rose loves the sun, however it will bloom in part-shade (maybe with a few less blooms). Just make sure that it gets at least 4 hours of sun.

Remember to add organic matter to the soil and water regularly until the plant is established. Thereafter, the plants can withstand some dryness. While I don't suggest that you let the plant dry out, don't keep it sitting in water as it will rot. Just keep an eye on the drainage, well-drained soil is always the best.

Only fertilize in the spring. Try using Myke's rose fertilizer. It works wonders. Feeding this plant in the fall produces more foliage which makes it harder for the plant to survive the winter. Speaking of winter, the Yellow Flower Carpet Rose is recommended for a Zone 5 so I suggest covering the plant if you are trying this in a zone 3/4. In a zone 5, a cover of leaves should do the job.

Great companion plants: Scarlet Flower Carpet Rose, Sedum Angelina, Dusty Miller, Felicia Daisy or the Lavender Anouk.
